The Technology
Every plant,
monitored live.
A pharmaceutical-grade controlled environment, a closed-loop nutrient system, optimised LED light, and a quiet software layer making sure each plant gets exactly what it needs.
What's inside the box
Anyone can buy a shipping container. What sits inside ours is what makes GreenBox the most advanced controlled-environment farm in Pakistan — and what lets one strawberry behave like the next, all year long.
No. 01 · Aeroponics
Roots in thin air,
fed by mist.
Plants sit in lightweight food-grade collars with their roots hanging in a closed misting chamber. Every few seconds, a high-pressure pump releases a fine mist of nutrient-rich water at exactly the right droplet size — small enough to be absorbed instantly, large enough to coat every root surface.
Free of soil and over-watering, roots grow faster, denser, and disease-free. The plant puts its energy into the fruit instead of fighting the dirt.
- KEY TAKEAWAYS
- 2,016 planting cells, vertically stacked
- 20–60 μm droplet size, <5-second misting interval
- Up to 99% less water than traditional growing
- ~30% higher annual yield vs. open field
No. 02 · Real-time monitoring
A farm that
runs on data.
Every parameter that matters — temperature, humidity, CO₂, water pH, nutrient density, light intensity, plant growth — is tracked live by the on-board software. Anomalies trigger alerts. Cycles record automatically. Camera feeds let us watch every rack from a phone.
The result: nothing important happens to a plant without us seeing it. And every harvest cycle generates the data we need to improve the next.
- KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Sensor-monitored climate, water, and nutrient parameters
- Live dashboards accessible from a phone or tablet
- Camera feeds across every rack
- Cycle-by-cycle data every cycle teaches the next one
No. 03 · Climate & air
Pharmaceutical-grade air, every breath.
Inside the box, the air sits at a constant temperature, humidity, and CO₂ concentration — calibrated to the exact conditions strawberries prefer. Fresh air enters through HEPA filters; the internal atmosphere is sterilised continuously by photon hydroxylation technology, which uses UV-C light to generate hydroxyl radicals that break down bacteria, viruses, and odours into harmless byproducts.
The result is a sealed, sterile, perfectly tuned environment. No moulds. No pests. No need to spray, ever.
- KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Sealed climate held at 22 °C, 65% relative humidity
- HEPA-filtered fresh-air intake
- Photon Hydroxylation (UV-C, 100–300 nm) for sterilisation
- 40 air sterilisations per hour
No. 04 · Nutrition & irrigation
One drop,
used many times.
Three fertilisers and one pH-balancing acid are dosed automatically into the water line, and the resulting nutrient solution is filtered, UV-purified, and chilled to the right temperature before it reaches the plants. Whatever the roots don't absorb is collected, re-filtered, and recirculated.
Nothing runs off; nothing evaporates wastefully. In a country whose agricultural future will be defined by water, we think that matters more than the strawberry itself.
- KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Closed-loop fertilisation, irrigation, and control (FIC) system
- UV water purification, oxygen-enriched feed line
- ~35% less fertiliser than conventional growing
- ~40% additional water savings on top of aeroponic efficiency
No. 05 · Lighting
Light,
tuned to the plant.
The sun is good at many things, but it's a generalist. Our LEDs aren't. The spectrum is engineered specifically for the strawberry — concentrated in the blue (420–480 nm) and red (620–670 nm) wavelengths the plant actually uses for photosynthesis, with a touch of far-red to encourage fruiting.
The plants get exactly the light they want, at exactly the time they want it, every day of the year.
- KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Tailored LED spectrum, optimised for strawberry growth
- 2.8 PE (μmol/J) photon efficacy
- ~30% energy savings vs. standard horticultural LEDs
- 50,000-hour guaranteed lifespan
